My erasure poem uses the fact sheet “Spoon Theory” on the EMERGE ACT website. (https://www.arthritispainsupportemergeact.org.au/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Spoon-Theory.pdf). Using erasure for the poem illustrates the way ME can erase energy and the life you’d imagined living. My poem is inspired by the way my world has shrunk, how the illness has chipped away at what I could do before becoming ill. However, I’ve left the last line open-ended. With this illness, the next day, the next hour, has the possibility of being better, or worse, than the one before.
