What is a Physiotherapist?
A physiotherapist is a healthcare professional who specialises in treating physical conditions that affect movement. For people with arthritis, a physiotherapist helps manage pain, improves joint function, and enhances mobility through tailored exercises, manual therapy and education on posture and joint protection. They design programs to strengthen muscles around affected joints, increase flexibility and reduce stiffness, which can help improve daily activities and quality of life. Physiotherapists also advise on lifestyle changes and assist with adaptive techniques to reduce strain on the joints.
Physiotherapists often collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors, nurses and occupational therapists, to provide holistic care. They aim to enhance the quality of life of their patients by helping them regain independence and function.
